Chest shops are user-created shops where you can sell or buy certain items to and from other players.
Unlike the server shops or the Auction House, chest shops are physical shops where you as the owner have full control over the supply and price.
To create a chest shop, simply place a chest down and hold the item you would like to sell in your hand.
Punch the chest with the item and a message will be sent to you in chat, asking how much you want to sell 1 of the item for.
Enter the amount in chat, and a chest shop will be created for you.
Note: If you move after punching the chest, and before entering an amount in chat, the creation process will be cancelled.
By default, your shop will be set to Sell mode, allowing other players to purchase the item sold from the shop.
This can be changed with a command (see below).
The price in the chest shop will always be based on a single (1) item, regardless of the amount you hold in your hand when creating the shop.
For example, if you hold 64 dirt when creating the shop, the price you set will still be for 1 dirt.
On Towny, barrels can also be used to create a chest shop.
There are a few useful commands you can use as the owner of a chest shop.
They are as follows:
/qs buy |
Changes shop to Buy mode |
/qs sell |
Changes shop to Sell mode |
/qs price <price> |
Changes the buy/sell price of a shop |
/qs remove |
Removes the shop you're looking at |
Buying from and selling to a chest shop works similarly to creating a shop.
Simply punch the sign of the shop you would like to buy from or sell to, and a message will be sent to you in chat.
Then, enter in chat how many of the item you would like to sell or buy.
Note: If you move after punching the shop sign, and before entering an amount in chat, the buy/sell process will be cancelled.
It is also possible to purchase from (or sell to) a chest shop by punching the shop sign and running the command /qs amount <amount>
